Beacon Hill

This is a moderate to strenous hike near the town of Beacon on the East side of Hudson. It is accessible by train from NYC. The hike starts with steep climb to the top of Mt. Beacon where there used to be a casino hotel in the early 20th century. Remains of the incline railway that carried visitors to the hilltop casino can be still seen on the trail. Follow the GPS route to the fire tower at South Beacon Hill and Lamb Hill. There are many splendid views along the trail. One "hidden" section towards the end of the circuit, with its cascading water falls and surrounding golden forest, is particularly enchanting in the Fall Foliage days.
