GR10 -2017

Again, we picked up from where we left off in 2016. This year's hike was from Borce  to Vielle Aure. We didn't reach our original goal of Luchon. Nevertheless, we had a heck of a time wondering in the high country of the Pyrenees.

I am always drawn to the Catskills. I can't explain why. Somehow, its dark, damp forest, its slippery, craggy path, and that cold eeriness has appeal to me. On a chilly October day, when I first drove on the winding road to Haines Fall, a few glimpses of the colorful palette of fall foliage on the mountainside was so memorable that I kept coming back for it. I learned from an ugly fall on a loose slab that its trails, though not very difficult, could be a bit treacherous. But that did not deter me. No wonder the Catskills has a special place in American popular culture. It attracts those who search for something different.
